OverviewFor Pilgrims, the American Dream was freedom of worship.  For the founding fathers, life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. For the huddled masses it was opportunity, equality…freedom.  But the dream has been hijacked. Today the American Dream means more money, more house, more car, more power, more wealth, more fame…more stuff—instant, on demand, drive-thru, microwaveable, downloadable, 1,000 channels, 10,000 songs.  Happiness is in the aisles of a megastore. Fulfillment is in 4 easy payments. Purpose is in a bank account, a bar code, a magnetic strip. More me…supersized, satisfied, and served.  Self-centered, self-focused.

There is a movement arising of people who are willing to trade the pursuit of the American Dream for a world that desperately needs Christ—they are called “Traders.”  Being a Trader means being intentional with your time, your money, and your passions.  A Trader is a new kind of missionary—not defined by geography—but marked by a willingness to apply the Parable of the Good Samaritan and “go and do likewise.” Are you a Trader? Do you long to be?
