| Our Special
Ministries division is unique to the Brazosport and southern Brazoria
county areas. Having celebrated our 25th year of ministry in November
2006, we offer weekly classes and ministries to the hearing impaired,
to those who are mentally handicapped, to adult new readers, and to
those who are homebound. Director of the Special Ministries division
is Janie Walker. |

Special
Education
Glenn
Davis, Mildred Taylor, Janie Walker and Jean Hinkle work with those
from our area who are mentally handicapped and require special attention
in the learning process. They provide Bible study materials appropriate
to the learning level of these students. These leaders get to know
their members on a personal level, and provide love and ministry
to them.

Deaf Fellowship
A
special Sunday School class is offered for those in the community
who are hearing impaired. Eddie and Audrey Cassle, who are themselves
hearing impaired, are teachers of this class. Becky Vernor and Jackie
Burke assist and facilitate the class. All worship services are signed as needed. Signing classes
are offered each year.

New Readers
Adult students in the community who, for whatever reason, need assistance
in reading are invited to join Gaylynn Benn in room 4 every Sunday
morning at 9:15 for a Bible lesson. The comfort zone of these students
is main-tained, and personal Christian interaction takes place that
results in an increase in personal confidence and security.

Homebound
Adults who have physical ailments that have immobilized them are
not forgotten. Jackie Burke leads this valuable ministry to shut-ins
and the elderly. Brief Bible lessons are shared with each one on
a regular basis, and ministry efforts are extended as needed.
